Balling method

Hi!
Can someone explain in simple words how the balling method works?
What I understand after reading various articles is that I have to measure the alkalinity and based on that I will dose the tank equal ml of each solutions. I have measured my tanks alkalinity and it is 1dKH /day.
Any help is appreciated.
