Bam Bam frag problem?

kpk

Been Reefin'
I got a 5 polyp frag of bam bam zoas on Monday. The frag looked excellent but had been in the bag overnight due to a friend picking it up. Anyways...

Tuesday one polyp was looking like it was trying to open, but they have all declined since. They started to look like they had clear flesh and shrinking somewhat. Of course I didn't quarantine them because they were out of another hobbiest tank that didn't have any problems. Should have I guess.....

Took them out tonight and did another coral Rx dip and put them in quarantine. What could be the problem? Think I'm SOL?

BTW all my other stuff is fine.

The exact same thing has happened to me with some Orange bam bam frags I just got. Mine are done for. Sucks because they were quite expensive for 10 polyps. Did you get yours from someone who is also an online dealer by chance? I'm starting to wonder if their colony might be diseased or something.

That's weird. No, I got them from a home grown colony. That's the weird part. I think my lights may have toasted them. I found out they were under 2 39w t5's for the last year or so....moved them under LEDs and turned them down, but...

I really don't know. Also the frag was made the night before I got it and then was in the bag overnight. Temp Changes etc.

It probably was everything combined.. Newly fragged and then left in a bag all night. Was the bag at least temp controlled? Like did your friend put it into his tank to hold them? You never know with corals but my guess is if they are slimed over flaking tissue and shrunken up its too late.. I've saved a few zoas with iodine dips but not after they were losing tissue..

No this friend was even a coral guy. The way he talked he was coming home the same day or I wouldn't have even had him get it. It was just in his sisters house overnight. Bummer but it is what it is.

It's not flaking just shrunk up and bad looking.

Just took a few pics. We'll see how it turns out.

They looked fine when I got them btw.

Did you frag them or someone else? And was he experienced with fragging? Only reason I ask is it would be easy to screw it up if they didn't know what they were doing

how much light is it getting? when i got my frag of bambams, i put it in a relatively dim area for a while as i do with most of my new zoas. all opened up fine within a day.
