Bamboo fishtank? (pic)

What do you guys think about useing this as a saltwater tank? its been in the family for about 20 years and we got it when we lived in Japan. Its real bamboo and glass. Weve used it for a tutrle tank, a terarium, a fresh water tank, and lately iv been using it to house my bearded dragon.. well my breaded dragon moved into my 4 ft custom tank that i built in my room that used to house my 2 ball pythons. the 2 ball pythons went out into my newly aquired 75 gal tank that i made a custom mesh top for so they cant get out. I was planng on useing the 75 gal for a salt water tank but my snakes really needed the extra room.

So heres a picture of the bamboo tank that i would like to turn into a salt water tank. What do you think? iv never seen anyone else with anything like it before. so im hoping it wil be different..

Here are a few pics of what i did to the 75 gal tank and the mesh top i made for it.

im pretty sure i can do the plumbing work for it, i was looking at it now. the only thing is is that the sump will be exposed on the bottom where that box is, so i would have to make it look nice. i cant remember the total gallons it is. ill fill it up later and make sure it still doesnt have any leaks and ill tell you how many gallons it has then. id guess somewhere around the 50-60 range..

It will definately be something different...
Where did you get that bamboo tank? I like it!

What do you keep in the 55g tank? Snakes or lizards?
Also is that newspaper you are using as substrate?
Cypress Mulch would be much better....easier to clean, If it's a tropical reptile you are keeping, the mulch would help keep the humidity levels up. Some tropical jungle background should help make those jungle type oraments pop out. I would also definately keep a heat lamp at one end of the tank.

i got the bamboo tank when i lived in Japan. i just filled it and it turns out it looks bigger then it is.. it only a 40 gal tank. the 55 was houseing my 5 ft python, not it has my bearded dragon in it. both of my snakes are in the 75 gal tank (2 ft and 5 ft snakes). ya its paper towels in there right not. i normal use cypress mulch but i ran outta the stuff a few days ago when i cleaned out my 10 gal tank. :/ its temperary untill i pick up some more. there is a heat lamp on it as well as a regular light and a small heat pad in the tank. (had a heat pad for 10 years have never burnt anything iv owned)

i think the paper towel is better than the cypress mulch, when i had a lot of snakes i just used newspaper. it was easier to clean and cheap

If you keep lots of snake in smaller breeder tubs, papertowels or newspaper is better...I agree, I had over 75 snake at one point.
But in a nice big Display tank like that, cypress mulch is prettier, and you could spot clean, instead of removing the whole paper towel.

What kind of pythons are you keeping? I have one snake, my last....it's a Double het ghost red-tial boa male.
After we move I think I am going to pick up a pair of Green Tree Pythons.

there just some ball pythons, aka royal pythons. iv had 4 so far but im down to two. i'll post some pics of my dragon tomorrow :P he's a good size too. he can eat an adult mouse :)

I saw a green tree python and they are nice, the only thing was the store had to feed him little birds. Thats alot of money on snake food

I like the looks of the tank. If you ever want to trade it for some corals let me know. It would fit in with the theme of our tank. We just finished gettint the 180 together almost 2 weeks ago. Below are some pictures of it. Of course, now I want to redo the rock work after going to the tank hop!!

The close up photo shows the tank with the top almost completed. The fts shows the top without its "skirt" on.
