Banded brittle star spawning

I did a decent water change on my 65 gallon reef this morning and about an hour later I noticed one of my banded brittle stars standing up and spewing sperm or eggs or whatever. It did this a couple of times until my tangs started picking at it. An who I was just wondering if it was a sign of good water quality?

Looks like it's that time of the season. See my post from today. I should have read yours first and added. Either way, it's interesting that my stars and RBTA are on the same schedule as yours. Mine can't see the moon, and I haven't changed water in 8 days, so anyone know "How do they know?"

Niether of those animals do I believe have eyes to see the moon. I think stars have some sort of eyes along their legs not sure.. either way animals just know what to do at the right time... its just their "natural instinct" that most of us humans lack.

I have moonlight LEDs on my t5 set up but what is interesting is that both my daylight and actinic lights were on when it did it. Weird little guys
