The female wants to mate again, but if that happens soon I will take the eggs out of his mouth.
Im not sure if I would strip the eggs out. Just feed the male really heavy so that you can fatten him up quick. They may mate again in about a week at the earliest. If so your male should be able to keep this up for about 3 broods but after that he will most likely spit them on his own or just eat them.
What I normally do is feed the female only about every 2 or 3 days wile the male is holding and then the day he spits them out I start to power feed both of them at the same time. By doing this the pair seem to hold off on mating for about 2-3 weeks after the male spit the eggs. Its a little bit of a break on the male and me.
I think if you were to try to strip the eggs it would just be a lot of unneeded stress on the male.
I immediatly had the idea of underfeeding her while he was carrying eggs. She was slightly smaller than him but in those 24 days she outgrew him.
When I had Malawi cichlids I used to catch the females and make them spit the eggs, because I couldn't find people who could keep them.
I live in a small island and even with only 20 something Banggai's I know I'm going to have the same problem.
I think I still prefer to stress him out for a minute than to have him starving for over 3 weeks without any purpose. I can't continue to rear all their batches if I can't find homes for the fish.
He still eats much less than her now.

I have two spawning pairs of Bengais and they produce around 20 babies regularly. Today happens to be day 26 for one of my males for holding the eggs/now babies. In my experience stripping them prior to day 26 results in "premies" or underdeveloped babies. I stripped them a month ago on day 25 and lost 30% of them as they were exremely frail. If you wait too long and don't have the male completely isolated, you run the risk of just not getting a single one. That happened last week end with my other male. I'm going to net the male this afternoon and with any luck he'll spit out a whole swarm!

I still haven't managed to make my baby banggai's eat anything else other than live bbs.
Everytime I feed bbs, I mix otohime A1 and A2, cyclopeeze and dead bbs but they only eat the bbs.
When I feed anything else by itself, they still don't touch it.
Any suggestions?
