I had a bangaii cardinal fish in qt for about a month, and was doing great. So I added it in. Everything was fine. the fish was shy and was hiding around in the rocks. I just turned off the lights. Turned them back on after a few hours to check and its doing alright. Today i turn on the lights and let the other fish, animals wake up which is a blue green chromis, fire goby, fire shrimp, and some snails. Still dont see it. Then i noticed that the fire shrimp was gone. I saw its anntennas peeking out of a rock, I lifted it up, sure enough there was a dead bangaii cardinal fish. What went wrong? Was it bad water quality? Because i havent changed the water and there is cyanobacteria growing on some rocks. What should I do, because I have a royal gramma who is going into the tank next. How should I prepare?

Without you posting what your ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, ph, temp, salinity are how are we supposed to know any more than you? Cyanobacteria isn't always an indicator of poor wq. How old is the tank? if its fairly young it could just be one of the cycles. either way, you should be doing some water changes, especially if you aren't testing.
