Little run down.........
Tank has been running since December of 2015. At the time, I bought two percula clowns. In February, I purchased a couple of banggai cardinals. Since then I picked up a couple chalk bass, and one orange prawn goby.
Within the last couple weeks, I noticed one of the banggais had white stringy poo, and the other cardinal was starting to turn very dark in color. blackish/brownish. (These cardinals, from my understanding, were wild caught, NOT tank raised)
I tried to get the cardinals out of the DT and placed in to the QT. This was 7-10 days ago. They were to fast and I was not able to get them. I decided to treat the DT with Prazipro. This was July 20th. Turned off the carbon reactor and removed the skimmer cup off the skimmer. Let it run up until last night (25th).
I saw no change in cardinal appearance. SO I decided to get the QT back up. Figured I'd give it one more try and see if I could get the cardinals transferred over. This time, it was stupid easy. The dark colored one didn't really try to flee. The second one danced a little but I was able to corner him and that was done. Within 10-20 seconds. So in to the QT they both went. Where they reside as of right now.
I did a large water change in the DT. Replaced the carbon reactor media, and placed the skimmer cup back on. All is functioning as of right now.
Here are my questions:
1. With the cardinals being sick, why are the other tank mates doing fine? They haven't shown any signs of stress or anything during the cardinal issues. Everyone is eating and moving around like normal, with ZERO flaws in appearance. Will it eventually come out of each one, or not necessarily? What can I do at this point to the fish in the DT to avoid any and all issues that may arise since the sick cardinals were once in the DT?
2. As for the cardinals. They are not eating at all, still alive and kicking. What can I do at this point with them while in the QT? Do I do another dosing of prazipro? I don't understand why the cardinals both got sick around the same time, but the rest of the tank seemed to be fine.
3. What should be done at this point?
