Well it's official 14 of em! I've had the pair of Banggais for over 2 years now and I knew they were breeding. I could see the male with a mouthful every few months or so and which was also confirmed by him not eating for a few weeks at a time. I was always hoping a few might get sucked into one of the 2 overflows, but no luck. So I just assumed that's how it was going to be with the faint hope of a few making it someday. Well that attitude continued until last August when my wife spotted one baby in the left overflow. We were very elated and fascinated with our newest Cardinal, especially at how fast it grew. Then in late October it disappeared. I figured it was sucked down to the basement so I rushed down and sure enough it was in the 100 Gal refugium enjoying it's new found space. It continues to thrive to this day with out any special care.
As Christmas approached the male had a mouthful and again I maintained the attitude of hopeful but not very optimistic. This past Friday about midnight I was getting ready to head upstairs when I decided to get out the red light to see what was stirring and that's when I made the discovery. I couldn't believe what I was seeing, 6 babies! Well the next morning rolls around and that's when I find the other 8. This will be interesting to see how many actually survive and how soon before they get sucked below. I'll post a picture of em to this message tonight as I can't do it at work.
