Ok is base rock dead live rock??? Or is it similar looking to live rock?? I would like to get some so that i can aquascape my 125 better.... right now it looks way to low! I would like some base rock so that the live rock will look higher in the tank. Also i can put some pvc pipe underneath for my zebra eel. Let me know what you guys think and also when i can get some base rock from???

You can get different types of base rock at your lfs usually. It sometimes looks remotely like live rock. Depending on where it comes from it may be dead coral rock.. I have some that is obvioulsy dead coral rock. Get the most porous rock you can. I'm not sure of the safety of lava rock. I wouldn't use it. As long as its calcerous you should be fine. I have read it can raise ca/alk so watch for that.(no changes in my system) It will over time become "live" as well.

:) Usually base rock ISN'T really dead live rock in the sense of it being like live rock that maybe you just went out into the ocean and then left the rock sitting in the sun to dry for a few months deal. Its possible you might be able to find some like that but usually "base rock" is in fact quarried from dry land sites. Its completely barren - just the limestone rock. BUT, after its been in the system for a while its just as good as any live rock (and depending on your sources I actually like the base rock I've been able to order because the live rock here is heavy and dense!).

Twopartsolution has some really good base rock, and they're a really good company to deal with :). Also I've heard of many people putting PVC under the rock in a tank. Usually its more to support the rock I think and keep it off the bottom pane of glass but I'm sure a similar system could be used for your purposes.

Ok great thanks for the infor! i greatly appreciate it!

Ya i wouldnt wana use lava rock.... i want the base rock to look as close to live rock as possible.
