Bashful Clowns....

No sure of their age, I just got them 4 days ago....I know, I know...prob need to give them time, but I just want to nip the habbit in the bud before they set up shop :) Any ideas?

I wouldn't worry about it. It could be that they are young. I have seen pictures in wilkerson's book where young fish tend to stay near the top hiding. If they are that new the will get more bold and explore their surroundings.

definitely give them some time....my clowns did that for weeks....and then one day....the whole thank was theirs!

Ditto. Eventually they will own the whole tank and attack your hand every time it goes in. You could also feed at the top front of the tank (if you don't already) and at least get them moving around

Yes I agree you want to feed in front of the tank and hold the food for a long time so they get use to u I have trained all my fish to eat out of my hand and some will swim into my hand and let me pick them up.

Awesome. Thanks for the help. I do feed at the front of the tank, but they don't budge until a piece of food floats past their face :) I sure they will eventually move. If they don't I will buy a trigger...that will get them moving.... J/K

We have had our clowns for over 2 years and nothing will get them out of the corner??? they have took up residence in a large harry mushroom rock! they wait for food to come to them. They never explore or leave that corner. I just assumed that was thier nature???

Well it sounds like they are "hosting" the Mushroom rock, which is normal that they would hand around that spot. My little guys are "hosting" the return vent. Have you thought about re aqua-scaping? It would be a chore, but if they haven't moved in 2 ears, maybe an extreme home makeover is what they need. I hope I don't have the same issue. My situation is like having your children sit around the toilet all day..... :)

Given this is a 200 gal very deep tank almost 3 feet aquascaping is a last resort. since I don't have anyone who just sits an looks at the tank I am going to let the little fishes have there way... if I want to look at them I can alway just go to the side were they have setup housekeeping right!!!
