i'm up late, i decide to give the tank a look and notice something moving along the top of my rock...i turn the light on in the room, and shocked to find it's a Basketstar starfish! In retrospect, i saw it before wrapped up in a whip that Richard sent me as lagniappe but I paid no mind...

Very cool looking creature!! I fed the whip some brine today and think that aroused it a bit.

I found a small (much smaller than yours appears to be) black basket star in one of the gorgonians from my order. I've been target feeding him small pieces of mysis, making sure he grabs it and watch him eat it. He seems to be doing very well on this diet.

Yep, that's where he was! Matted up in a gorgonian. But he hadn't moved or not much since I got the 2nd package. When I spot fed the gorgonian I guess he got enough nourishment to get him exploring. How often you feeding?


I woke up this morning and can't find him now. Lol went into hiding.

Currently feeding once a day since it takes him a bit to get through the mysis. I've read other posts of larger basket shrimp, similar to yours doing a morning and night feeding. I think if you search around this forum for basket starfish, you'll find the post I'm talking about.
