i have a 150g established tank, i recently added about 5 months ago added a 20g deep refugium to the tank, the refuigium has 10 mangroves in it, some cheato, and sea weed, there is 20 lbs of Tonga branchlive rock in it and a few mushrooms, it also has 3 inch sand bed and 5 snails, and a sand shifting cucumber. my question is in this environment suitable for a sea horse, will i have to make any changes to accommodate the seahorse, and what kinds of seahorse would you recommend in this environment. the flow in this tank is slow. and all my levels normal. Any advice would be great, thanks!

I'm guessing the 150G is a reef, which leads me to guess again that the temp doesn't stay below 75F. If this is the case, the water temp is probably too high for long term seahorse care.

Also, the 20 gallon is too small for any of the available tropical/subtropical species. Some sites may list 20G as a minimum tank size, but to me its really not adequate.

The rest of the environment sounds great ... rock, mangroves, macros, snails, etc. Higher temps and small tank size are show stoppers though, imo

thank you for the feed back, the tank is reef, and temp is usually 76-78.
it would be nice to house seahorses, but the more i read the more i find out it will be a bit to risky, would be nice though, they are so beautiful.

The only problem is that the SH will be the predator and drop levels of pods etc. that you want for the reef tank. JMO
