thanks

I don't have any personal experience, BUT

John P. Hoover's book on Hawaiian Reef Fishes says they don't do well in captivity. It says they pick small inverts from the sand and rubble, but if it is eating I think it would do fine.

i would not think they are a good choice unless in a fish only system . any wrasse that i can find info on that looks similar doesnt do well in captivity either . pretty fish but not a good choice unless you are prepared for a boisterous fish

they are notorious for just dying. Usually in holding due to smashing their faces on the sides of the glass... they dont get very big, they should be OK with clams... if its eating you should be OK.

Had a stethojulis trilineta. Started to feed after a 3 days. Freaked out in the QT, so straight to the DT.

You would require a large tank, 100G at least. However, it isn't able to compete with tangs, anthias and such for food, and eventually it faded and died.

It seems to be reef safe though.

Good luck!

Mine was very flighty. Beautiful fish, but it would panic over every little thing; it was one of just 2 fish in a mature 240 at the time. Not one I would suggest to most people unfortunately.

I just got Scott Michaels newest book in the series, the one on Wrasses.
These are apparently hard to keep. Have high caloric needs & are delicate..
That is what he writes.
