Bengal Cat...

Sorry, not fish related (hope this is ok), but I thought with the animal lovers here someone might be interested.

I have a 2yr old silver bengal cat that I need to find a home. He is a very personable cat...acts a lot like a dog actually. Follows me around everywhere, always sits in my lap (in my lap right now), waits for me at the door when I come home, comes when I call him, etc. I have heard you can train bengals to walk on a leash, but I haven't tried with him.

The reason I need to find him a new home is bc I work so much he is home alone a lot, and I can tell he is lonely. He walks around meowing like he's looking for another cat. He used to live with my mom but she couldn't take care of him anymore so I decided to bring him down to Tuscaloosa. He really needs a playmate, or someone who is home more than I am. I am only home about 2 hours a day and that is just not fair to him. He is neutered and all his vaccines are up to date.

Here are a couple pics of him:

He never bothers my fish, and he got along fine with my moms inside dog. Her outside dogs didn't like him so we never let him outside.

If anyone is interested in him: zacharyriggins@gmail.com

Thanks,
Zach

thats an alsome looking cat. I wish I can take him off your hands, but I got two myself that are a hand full especially my half manx half siamese. I hope you find someone to give him a good home.

Beautiful... Let me talk to my wife. I'm not sure if she'll go for it (our other two cats have been together for almost 8 years, so not sure how they'd get along...). I've always wanted a Bengal.

I'm not asking any money for him. I just want to know that whoever gets him will take good care of him.

He got along great with my mothers male cat, they played all the time. He didn't seem to get along with the female...not sure why.

Here are some pics I snapped recently. My gf took a nap on the couch and Leo was right there snuggling up with her. He has to be close to you if you're in the same room.

Here he is being inquisitive as to what this funny thing I'm holding up to my face is...

Zach,
Definitely interested in adopting him if you haven't found a home for him already. Is it possible to meet this weekend in Bham as it is about halfway between Huntsville and Tuscaloosa? I know I need a companion in the house with me outside of a tank!! Plus, my son would adore him as well.

Hey Kyle,

Yes he is good with kids. He never scratched my sisters 5 yo son, but he did run away a few times when he saw him coming. My nephew is a bit rambunctious .

Everyone else,

Sorry if I haven't gotten back with everyone. I think I have replied to all emails/pms.

There is someone local that is interested in him. They are supposed to come meet Leo-cat this week but if it falls through I will let you guys/gals know. Whoever pm'd me or replied to this post first will get first offer.

thanks again!

Zach

Please be careful with homing cats for free to strangers. I'm afraid some very nasty things can happen to "free to good home" cats. Asking for a small adoption fee -- say $50 -- will exclude the bunchers and people looking for dog fight bait.

When I was trying to find a home for this kitten you'd be surprised how many people wanted just such an orange kitten for their daughter's/wife's birthday and said they had another cat and wanted to meet somewhere. And I never heard from them again when I asked for a vet reference.

Good luck, he looks like a real charmer.

Thanks for the tip Nicole. I thought about that, and was one big reason I posted here b/c I knew the local reefers take care of their animals.

A vet reference is an excellent idea though!

I have a seal lynx point beangal female that looks identical to this cat. I am very interested in adoption let me talk to my wife. Please pm me your phone number I would like to speak with you on the phone. Or you can give me a call between 7am and 1130am because I work a wierd shift at the hospital.

Hey guys, sorry I meant to update yesterday and got swamped at work.

So far the couple didn't show last week, so I dunno what happened.

Right now I will go by who emailed, pm'd or replied first and if they decline I will move on to the next person.

Let me reiterate some things about him so that whoever gets him knows what they are getting into.

He did not get along with my moms female cats. She has several and he didn't like any of the females. I do not recommend him going to a home that has a female cat. He loved her male cats...played all the time.

He meows a lot. I don't know if this is bc he's lonely/misses his friends...or if he just likes to talk. He will talk back if you try to talk to him...not english of course. :)

He is sweet...very sweet...but he is also VERY smart/inquisitive. He must inspect everywhere and everything within your house. You may find paw prints in odd places. lol I caught him drinking out of the toilet the other day. I think he's a dog at heart.

He very badly wants to go outside, but since I've never let him out, I would not trust him to be outside unless you live very far from the road and there are no dogs around.

Whoever potentially gets him, I would like to get a vet reference before we meet up. I hope this isn't too much trouble, but I need to know that he is going to a loving home.

Zach,

Let me know if he's still 'unclaimed'. My thinking is that he would get along with another Bengal, regardless of sex. My buddy worked at the zoo for a while working with the cats, so he is familiar with introductions, etc.

Zach,
You have my number and my mda.mil address, please contact me and I can give the required references. Thanks and I hope I can adopt him and provide him a good home!

sorry he doesnt like females, my bengal girl is excellent and it is just their nature to talk alot. They are very vocal, playful, and most of all the most loving breed I have ever been around. They are just big lap cats at heart but I have found that most of the breed do not like to be picked up or held on your terms, but they do like to be held and lay on you on their terms. Hope you find a home for him they truly are great cats.

Yes, Leo is now living with me and my family. He is still getting adjusted to the rowdy bunch up here. My animals seem to be busy working on the pecking order. Leo pounced on my other kitty this morning. I suppose he is not feeling lonesome any more.
