Best carbon for us?

What is the best carbon brand-wise for our systems? Hopefully attainable in bulk.

I use the large-grain lignite carbon from bulkreefsupply.com. It's cheap and you get a lot of it, so I can afford to change it out weekly. Personally I think changing the carbon out frequently is all I think really matters, since the stuff is spent after a few days.

They also sell the ROX carbon in bulk, which is fairly high quality stuff. I don't care for the small media size though, since it gets clogged in the reactor.

thanks

the ROX is what I just ran out of and yes, it is too fine - a few days spent really?

I think the majority of GAC's capacity is spent faster than we realize. Of course this all depends on how much carbon you use, how much flow through it, active or passive use, and how much gunk is in your tank to begin with.

The resident expert on carbon is Boomer. Check the various threads on carbon that he has authored or contributed to.

In short, Rox was one of two carbons that he thought were superior grade carbons. I can't remember the other.
