i like Big Pine Key its close to the reserves and nice size but if you want to party key west is the spot.

Looe key, marine sanct, and an underwater key. Boats have to hook up to premarked bouys. No collecting in the zone whatsoever. Great civing/snorkeling.

Dry Rocks, Mollasses(sp?) Reef, Christ of the Abyss(Not much of a reef but has a statue of christ covered in fire coral) in the Key Largo/Tavernier area. As said John Pennekamp is the best bang for your buck. I got free trips all last year when my sister worked there...

current king. When in key west you leave out of the area where the cruise ships come in. You head straight out from there and aim for a light house tower. You will see it in the distance. Its about a 6-7 mile ride to the reef. There is also a small sandy beach out there where you can pull your boat up to.

I third the Looe Key! Haven't been there in some time but last I went it was awesome.

Stop at any one of the 837 dive shops along US1. They will all have a dive books for the Keys that include coordinates.

yeah hit the dive shops. the upper keys is closer to the reef system.
