Best Large Angel Foods for ...

falconut

I have had my Singapore Angel for a little over 2 months now. It was in QT for the 1st month. I made sure it was eatting good before moving it into my display. It was eatting frozen mysis, frozen plankton (a little) and flake food (Prime Reef, Formula 1 and Formula 2). Although it is fussy with the food. It will look for large pieces of food and leave the tiny pieces. He was only eatting live blackworms for the 1st week or two. He is only 3", so it's not like he's a huge fish.

I moved him up to the display and he would eat. He's just not eatting as fast as the others, anthias, clowns, tang, etc. He looks a little skinny. The other day he was up at the top corner behind a return pipe. I thought he was dead, so I grabbed him by his top fin to remove him. He wasn't dead.

I put him back in QT and he's eatting fine again. Still he leaves the small pieces alone and eats fairly slow. Is there a food that may cause him to frenzy at eat better? I really like him, but don't want him to starve. I won't put him back in unless he's eatting food more quickly, so he doesn't die. I got lucky getting him out this time, but I doubt I'll be able to get him out again.

Many people have great success with garlic. Not only as a immune system booster, but a appetite enhancer. I think that garlic works great. Many use fresh garlic and juice it, but I just buy Garlic Extreme from Kent Marine. It is already concentrated in a bottle with a dropper, and works great.

There's a frozen food that is made for angels (& butterflies I think). It is supposed to contain sponge which is part of an angels natural diet - I have to be honest, I haven't tried it with any of the angels I've owned, but I know it's out there.

Yes, many angels are grazers and do well with a semi-constant source of vegetable material such as nori (better that romaine). Some angels also eat sponge and I think there is a food called angel formula that works well for them. Variety is key.

Oh, I forgot. He does pick a little on the nori clip.

I went to the LFS and got some live blackworms, since that always seamed to be his favorite. He did suck down a bunch. Hopefully, he'll fatten up on them (he has gotten very skinny), then I can start trying the different foods.

I think this is what your talking about:

I may have to try it, but the "Gel Binder" makes me nervous. I bought frozen cubes of Ocean Nutrition Formula One with Gel Binder and nothing ate it. It didn't seam to melt either, the gel just kept it together. Does anybody know if that is what it's supposed to do?
