Hi All!

Can someone tell me if the Red Sea complete marine test kit is Ok or is there another brand complete kit that you would suggest??

Cheers
Kim

I have had many a bad exprience withh Red sea. False negative readings,(nitrate) Low readings calcium. For my money salifert is the way to go

Here's another vote for Salifert, and pick up a sub-$50 refractometer while you're at it (if you don't already have one). Marine Depot and Premium Aquatics have decent pricing, and may have a starter bundle of salifert kits.

None of the test kits are trivial to use, but the Salifert kits have clear instructions and are generally easy to use with definitive color readings (I still have to ask my wife to check the colors sometimes, but she never has any trouble... ;-).

Don't get the Red Sea. Go ahead and get the Salifert tests. They are more, but worth it. I got the Red Sea kit and I got very frustrated that I couldn't get real values from the tests (ie Calc, Alk, etc). I got the Salifert tests and I'm happy with them. The Red Sea was just a waste of money.

Salifert Prices

Jeff,
I just ordered the Nitrates kit from thereefstop.com and it was lower than any of your listed prices. Way cool idea you had!
Kudos to Jeff!!!
