Best place to buy Live Rock??

Hey!! Does anyone know where the best place to buy Live Rock is? I'm looking for about 20lbs. Thanks!!

You are gonna need to travel a bit to get some decent LR. I would suggest A Reef Creation in Buff, NY. ABC Reefs in Syracuse, NY. The Reef Shoppe or Caribbean Forest in Rochester. Prob the best of the best shops in upstate. I would imagine that ABC would be the closest for you.

how much is your budget. if you wanna great rock and relativly no cycle/insta reef- live aquaria select fiji premium. but if your not looking for that or dont wanna pay that i would either get it from ABC reef to support the local crowd or tampabaysaltwater dot com is a good place for LR local to the golf of mexico, other live aquaria rock is good too. um or you can go the dead rock route and seed it yourself. bulk reef supply had good dead rock.

I'm a devoted fan of these guys... great rock, cool hitchhikers (my last order came with hidden cup coral, siderastrea radians, and something else I've not been able to get a good ID for, along with an ugly but cool tunicate and lots of more typical filter feeders), good coraline coverage, good prices, etc. This rock is *seriously* alive.

Of course, it also comes with algae, both good and bad. My orders have both included halimeda (good!) and some turf algaes (not so good... but nothing a turbo can't handle).

Also, the guy who runs the place is a fairly serious conservationist, so I like supporting his work.

Caribbean Forest seems to always have a few really nice purple pieces of rock, and they usually have two or three varieties to choose from as well. I personally think it is nice to be able to hand pick what you want.

Does anyone know how much LR is a lb at ABC? I need some, but it is a bit of a drive if it cost a fortune.

It's $9 per lb. I ended up buyig 12 lbs. today. Very nice rock. It has to cure for about 1 more week. I got some that wasn't totally cured yet to help cycle my frag tank. Got my new light today also. Super psyched! Already have it hung. LOL. Just waitin for my bulbs to arrive. A big thanks to everyone who helped me with my newbie issues! :fun4:
