got a tiny hydor pico evo pump (180gph) in my sump for circulation and it's super reliable. Doesn't put out a ton of flow though but should be enough to keep detritus from settling.
forgot to mention that on the pico pump the intake grooves are small and you would need to keep it accessible in order to clean it. I don't have to worry much in sump but if it's behind rockwork it will gum up fairly quick.
I use a aqua clear behind my rock, I have it setting on a coarse sponge. I have one rock on top of it to keep it in place, easy to move to clean sponge.
No matter what you get, calcium will build on the pump and you will need to clean it. Place your rock so you have an avenue to remove it and any pump will do for your purposes. A pump with a magnetic mount only makes it easier for you to put it back when maintenance is done.
