Best Red Bug Treatment?

What is the best way to treat for Red Bugs? Is it Interceptor?

I just got in to SPS. All of them have been doing great, except for my Green Slimer (died). I think maybe that Red Bugs killed it. I noticed that my Baby Blue Stack has red bugs now. I got all of my SPS from one guy. I'm not sure how I got Red Bugs, maybe from him?

I can only find them on my Baby Blue Stack. Actually, the stack has been growing like crazy since I got it. I would like to kill the red bugs. I can't QT my SPS because I don't have sufficient lighting for my QT to keep SPS.

So what can I do to get rid of them? Is my only choice to get some Interceptor?

Where can I get Interceptor? It looks like it is prescription only for Dogs and Cats.

Thanks

you only need 6 hours to kill them with interceptor, so get a 10 gallon tnak with some flow and they should be fine.

we completly irracated the red bugs with 10 dragon face pipe fish in our 560 reef. they dont kill shrimp or other crustations + they are verry cool fish. down side aggresive fish will kill them.

How do you know for sure you have gotten rid of them? How long has it been since you added the pipefish? Lots of people have tried pipefish with less than stellar results.

As has been stated, the only option is Interceptor and it works.

Adding a bunch of pipefish that are best in a species tank is not a solution.

Is Interceptor the only heart worm medication that will work? I have other heart worm medication for my dog. I'm guessing that I probably can't use it. I was just checking.

Thanks

Interceptor and don't take your acros out and put them in a 10 gallon to treat them. Treat the whole tank. If you take them out and treat them in another tank you will still have red bugs in the main tank and will reintroduce them to the acros when you put them back in.

The treatment sounds a lot worse than it is. Believe me. I'd take RB's over AEFW's anyday... You might see a cyano bloom and some hair or something along those lines and you wipe out a good portion of your pods, but other than that, not a big deal. It all returns to normal after a few weeks (given proper care).

Interceptor, as said above, treatment sounds worse than it is.

Given this is totally effective, I don't see a reason to try anything else. Esp a live creature, who is being introduced to rid you of another creature you introduced by not QT-ing your livestock.
Eventually, lack of QT will `get you' ... and I'd put into a practive before you get the acro-eating flatworms/etc - which are much more problematic.

IMO, using a `natural predator' is likely to leave just a few bugs left ... enough to infect anyone you trade with, enough to potentially come back in the end ... IME, what animal/fish eats a food resource down to the very last one? [esp when there are other pods to eat]

I have a QT tank. I don't have a MH light to QT SPS. Besides I bought all the SPS at once from one person. The REAL question is were the Red Bugs on the corals when I bought them? I didn't notice them when I bought them, but I guess they were there. I'm not sure where else they could have come from.

o treat the whole tank no matter what.My friend had them and he killed them reatmenave them now.I never noticed(stupid me I must be blind)Tiny little bastards.I am treating my tank as we speak. Its been 3 hrs.My shrimp are still alive.I couldn't get them out of the tank.I know I will lose them but I had no choice. The next corals I get will definately get a bath in the stuff.I used half a pill for my 150.I hope it will work.My friend used a whole pill on his 65 gal.I am not expecting my shrimp to live.

if you pick nonagressive fish, pipefish are great aditions to reef tanks.
dragon headed pipefish are hard to keep. I think because they need tiny live food like red bugs and freshly hached pods and a steady supply.

I would imagine the Interceptor would be much cheaper than 10 Dragon face Pipefish;)
