I am looking for some excellent sponge based foods for angelfish. Anyone got some they like? Thanks in advance!

Ocean Nutrition makes a frozen cube pack with sponge for marine angels, although I have heard debate on how much sponge is actually in there. I am not sure if fish food manufactures list ingredients in order of percentage of overall content, like "people" food, but if so, this would give an idea of how much.

I have been using for some time now, a product made by Brightwell, called AngeLixir. It is proported to have the same amino acids found in marine sponges. It is sold as an additive to be added to food. I have used it daily, adding it to NLS pellets, which are excellent for soaking additives without releasing in the water. I have noticed increased coloration, and growth in both my large Emperor, and Flame angel.

I just buy a mix of different sponges and put it in the tank for my angels to pick. Can't get more natural than that.

Where do you get them? Thanks in advance.

It is a pricey way to do it, but you invest so much in the system/fish that in my opinion it is all relative. (expensive fish=expensive food)

I'm sure at any LFS you can buy Tree sponges, Ball Sponges, Bee Sponges... etc... Live Aquaria has all of those right now. I wish there was a giant pack of 20 different sponges you could just order, but I guess things aren't that easy.

So let's say +/- $150 every 3 - 5 months?

Not to bad in my opinion.
