Best type of light for refugium?

I have a refugium in my sump. It contains mud, sand, chaeto and mangroves. What do you guys think is the best type of light for it? Compact florescent, incandescent or LED? Also how long should I leave the light on?

From what I heard, the light should be on opposite of your DT lights. ( So basically, at night).

Also, I'd only put a cheapy little bulb. YOu can go walmart and get a 6700k bulb. I am gonna use a spare LED i have. Pretty much any light can be used.

660nm/450nm red/blue combo LED grow light. They are pretty cheap on eBay.

Ive been using two of the screw on LED light bulbs on one of those clamp lights with the metal bowl. Get the one that says daylight. This is set up in a 20 gallon long. I can't get rid of the cheato fast enough. I also run that light 24 hrs a day. Seriously if anybody needs cheato let me know lol. I have a 20L full and half another 20L full of cheato also.

Home Depot had a 15 watt led worklight for $30.
I had 2 different pc fixtures that never grew much chaeto. Now I take out a stuffed quart bag each month.
They have a new 100w equivalent led that screws into normal light socket. Think it is $20 and 1600 lumen. I would try that if I didn't have the worklight.

I just ordered Finnex FugeRAY-R LED +red w/ clip-on base from eBay. 32x 7000k LED s + 16x 660nm Red LED s.

Omg, Chris, I am in a similar boat. I bought some about 2 weeks ago from the LFS. It has literally doubled in size.. In two tanks. It grows so fast!!!!!!!!!! :uzi:

Home Depot 5000K spiral light bulb and the reflector housing/fixture is all you need. My Chaeto is weed.

Whatever is equivalent to 100w. I think it's 9w but replicates 100w or something along that line.

Ok, I just installed a $5 home depot reflector and a spiral cf 100w ( 27w) bulb. Let see how everything looks in a few weeks. Thanks guys

i run one of the blue/red led(mostly red) led bulbs off ebay. and its working awesome for me.

Running an ATS, tank is finally coming around and looking good, tank was full of algae before.
