Best way to silence overflow with mods

I know there are a couple of mods out there to silence the overflows, but I cannot seems to find any diagrams anyone know where I can find a few?

Now I guess the question is. If I have 2 pipes in the over flow but don't have room to make them both the same height is it okay to make one a little lower?

Lonnie,

I can't speak from experience on this, but I don't think that's a good idea. The lower pipe will be handling the bulk of the flow. If it can't handle all the flow, the water will then creep up to the higher pipe and when it starts siphoning, it may pull enough water to lower the water level in the overflow and cause a siphoning noise.

If you don't have enough room for the Durso standpipes, consider the Stockman standpipes as outlined on Durso's website linked above.

I like that stockman one. I didn't see that before I went and got the pieces for a durso and I don't have room for one of them.. Yeah I didn't like the idea of having one smaller than the other any way.

I wonder if I can get 2" to 3" slip reducer.

I have just the T's with the caps on there right now and it is still a little load

WooHoo!! It not loud at all now..

Went back to the store. They know me by name!!

Took back the stuff for the Durso and did the Stockman

Could you share your equipment sizes as I too need 4,000gph+/- and I have been struggling to figure out the sizes.

Pump is a Reeflo Barracuda

The pump is in my basement and pushes to the main level. If you don't need a pump with that much head pressure you can go with a Reeflo Barracuda

My drains are 2 - 2" drains I wish now I would have went with 3 - 2", or just a wider over flow box. The drains keep up but the overflow box needs to be a little bigger to handle that much flow.

Not sure if this is the info you are looking for or not so I hope this helps.

Here is my tank build thread that might help as well.

Actually I was wondering what size the bulkheads were and the plumbing pieces you used to make the standpipes. I have about 4" across (fron to back) my overflow, but it is almost 18" long so I was thinking of 2" bulkheads for the stanpipes and then 4-1" return bulkheads. I just need to get the actual measurement required, including the flange and also make sure I can fit the standipe in the 4" opening when constructed. I have a Sequence Dart so I am not going with the educators (not enough head) but am instead adding 2 Tunze Nanostreams when they hit the shelves.

I have 2 - 2" bulkheads - 2" pipe on both sides of the bulkheads. I made the stockman out of 3" pipe and a 2" to 3" reducer. NOTE: on the reducer I had to notch the inside out for the reducer would slide down the 2" pipe. Each 2" pipe has 27 - 1/2" holes under the 3" pipe and 2 - 1/4" holes in the 2" cap!

does that help?

Thats perfect. Thanx
But I have 1 last question. Do you know what the outside diameter of the 2" bulkhead flange is? Where did you buy it? I only have 4" and need to make sure it will fit, but I also want to go with the largest bulkheads I can.
Thanx for your help.

I got the bulkheads from www.Savko.com What ordering from them online. I have heard they had someone hack there system and was using peoples credit card numbers.

I'm not sure of the outside diameter, but I know the I got the Heavy duty bulkheads and the hole needs to be 3 1/4" each. Call Savko they might have that info. Or wait till tonight and if I remember I will measure them when I get home.

If you don't have room for 2" pipes try going with 3 - 1 1/2" pipes.
