I'm having an issue in my tank with encrusting SPS (mostly montis) overgrowing and starting to interfere with other corals (other SPS, zoas). What is the best way to trim back the encrusting corals? Scraping? Injecting boiling water?
I don't know if the products of killing the encrusting corals are toxic to other nearby corals, and if any particular method of trimming is better than another.
