These days- they are about equivalent.
Back when aqueon was AGA and marineland was Perfecto, there may have been a slight edge to Perfecto, but it's been years.
Both are considered "˜budget' but they are all I can afford. Don't see the need to go starfire glass or rimless with my designs- in wall or cabinets.
Cost savings over a premium brand goes towards livestock, rock or other equipment.
If you do go marineland, stay away from DD tanks- unless it's a newer built one. The earlier versions had an issue busting a lower seam, but they've corrected the issue as I understand it

Man, but starfire glass is so pretttyyyyyyy.
Everything else I agree with.
I had a custom 40B built years ago when I was first getting into the hobby with front and side panels starfire. It was gorgeous.
Sadly it cracked when I moved ;/ Prompted a short 8 year break lol. Nothing kills your reefer buzz like losing a custom new tank.
