They are expensive. I have the nano I won at the frag swap up and going. I added black sand and some semi live rock that was in a cooler in the garage. So far everything is going good just playing the waiting game on the cycle. Today I ordered the AL Sol Super Blue Nano LED light. I am really looking forward to it arriving and getting to try it out. I ordered the touch screen controller too. This allows for many different options and settings for the light. I will post some more pictures after the light arrives. I went a little expensive on my "cycle" fish but hey I have always wanted one so i splurged.

Its a snowflake and there is another one left at one of the LFS in Memphis.... Its called Memfish.

That looks just like ORAs snowflake (the are a wholesale aquaculture company), captive bred fish. I was thinking of trying to find a mated pair just like those.

i was thinking exactly the same thing, but this could be his Nursery until you plunk him into that 100 Cube.
 
Just received the 23" eel he looks great with the 2 new tangs... Wonder what else will fit in this nano???

why not use a clown to cycle. it is a damsel after all. clowns are my favorite cycle fish because they can take it and most people want to keep one so you dont end up having to fish him out.

Because if that Snowflake Clown was similarly priced to the ones I see online you are taking a $250 risk. You could use a raw shrimp (pennies) or some ammonium chloride (a couple of dollars) and get the same results with no risk to livestock. I probably can't post a link to it without getting edited, but if you go to the site that has saltwater, and fish, and .com in the name you will see that they are not cheap.

One can use a piece of raw shrimp with the same results as using a fish without the harm or death to a fish. I look at it as being locked into a room with ammonia gas. I would not like it very much.
 
PETA pETA PETA!!!!!!

Locking fish in small glass bowls is not really ethical either but we all do it!!!!

No one cares when it is a $5 damsel....
 
No PETA here. For me it is simply risk management. I personally would not risk the investment. I have cycled many tanks with many fish in the past. Once even with a 8-inch grouper that I returned to the store for a credit when I was done. I just choose not to cycle with fish anymore, not even a $5 damsel. Your money, your merriment.
 
The new AL SOL Nano LED came in yesterday and I have to say this little thing is amazing. The controller is back ordered so, I am still waiting on it. This will allow different modes such as cloud cover, sunrise and sunset, thunderstorms, ramp up slowly, etc. I am very impressed so far and cant wait for the controller so I can get the full benefits. It comes with touch controls for different levels and you can adjust the blue and whites. I must say it is very cool even without the controller.

Be careful when u add coral. Without the controller, the lights run at 100% intensity and may bake any coral under them. But it doesn't look like any coral are in the tank yet, so it will be all good when you get the controller. :) Love the little tank with the nano sol, looks good!
 
The nano comes with touch controls and you can adjust all three colors accordingly. I have them dialed way down!

Awesome light for anyone in the market for a new one...

Ahhh, I need to read more closely....ha. I skimmed over the touch control part that you posted.
