Bio Cube Skimmer

I have a 14 gallon Coralife bio cube and want to add a skimmer. I bought one of the Oceanic bio cube skimmers and it won't work unless I leave the lid/Lights open. The water lever is too high and I prefer not to drop the tank lever 2 inches to make this work. Any idea's on a hang on skimmer that is somewhat compact but will do the job.

Not sure if the Aquaticlife 115 will fit in the tank, but it fit in the oceanic. Also Hydor makes a nano skimmer. There is a few, but not sure which ones will fit the newly designed Coralife Biocube.

I saw the Aquaticlife but it looks like the collection cup sits to high to close the lid.

It fit my Oceanic Biobube and the lid closed with it inside. But Im not sure on the design changes on the Coralife one

Can someone let me know where the water intake is for the biocube Skimmer?

I've seen pics but I can't figure it out.

Ok, found a pic...looks like it intakes at the bottom through some holes...but what about the water leaving the skimmer? Where does that come out at?

Thanks

My biocube 14 has been up for a year, never ran a skimmer and do water changes every 2 weeks. Filter floss is changed every 2 days. Theres no need for a skimmer in a tank with 12 gallons of water. The skimmer will cost you more then water changes for 6 months. im sure you will want to upgrade also, so wait till that point to buy a skimmer.

You change your filter floss every 2 days???

I have always preferred a skimmer over water changes. Makes it easier on the person watching my tanks when I go on vacation too.

THere is a good reason for a skimmer to compliment any system, I would use one if I had room. My 8g biocube has no room unless it was in the tank. Water changes, GAC and filter floss changed every day or so was not able to stop my red hair algae problem. Water params were fine but this is a persistant algae that is feeding off of something, maybe DOs that a skimmer would get rid of quickly. I had been changing 1.5 g out of the 8g (18% per week) but not a dent in the algae. Over the course of a year. I resorted to the hydrogen peroxide dip which has worked so far.

Are you guys joking about changing your filter floss so much? There has to be something going on that you need to change it so much. I'll easily go a month or longer. I have never had any algae problems I also do 5 gallon water changes every 2 weeks.
