Bio Cube

Thinking of starting my SW hobby with a 29 Gal Bio Cube. Any thoughts on how well the system works as opposed to buying individual components?

Should be OK. Make sure you LOSE the bio balls in the back filtration area. Lighting will be OK for soft corals and fish but you'll have to stay away from SPS (small polyp stonie corals) as the lighting in the system wont be strong enough to support them.

Have you already purchased?

I have the 29 BC and it is a great tank. I did a few of the modifications I found on this and other sites and it is working great. I am going to purchase a lighting upgrade from nanotuners.
I have a mixed reef and 4 fish (maxed out on the fish). @ perculas, a high fin goby, and a blue assessor.

The bio balls have been proven to be a problem (long term) they are called nitrite factories. You are better off with good live rock 1-1.5 lb per gallon. And do check out www.nanotuners.com they have some neat stuff. I have a 12 gl JBJ that is heavily modified with their products.

Hmello.....You like your sapphire skimmer. I have thought about putting one on my 12gl JBJ nano and havent seen many folks say good or bad about them...Are they worth it?

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I'm curious.

Thanks

Mine pulls out about a quarter of a cup per week of light to dark green gunk dpending on my feeding habit. Tank looks good, never register any phospate or nitrates.
