Birdsnest turning white

Birdsnest turning white picked up two large frags and are turning white but my older other birds nests looks good and is doing well

Is the whole frag turning white or is it rtn/stn from the bottom. Is there any palyp extension? In my experience it can be anything from water quality to too much light or flow. I've also killed frags by dipping them incorrectly.

Was at the top of the tank the tank is a 60 long 18 deep 26 tall has a 6 bulb t5 water paparazzi look good salt level is a little low I just put them on the sand bed

It sounds like it was shocked by the light and is dieing off. Your best bet is to frag the good parts and place them on the sandbed. If they stop dieing and look good then slowly move them up in the tank. It's actually a good idea to do this with all new frags in your tank. I hope this works.

With the thick growth of BN is it typically for the bases/undersides as they get bigger like a small mellon to go white from lack or light or flow. Or should there always be color and polyps through out the whole colony?

You are right as sps grow the underside etc. may loose color but only where light/flow is obstructed. Of course new growth will be white but there will be polyps. There should be polyp extension throughout the colony though. If the coral as a whole is turning white then something is wrong.

Ok, so polyps should extend all the way to the base regardless? I have a green BN that is getting rather big. Cantaloupe size and the bottom is white/no polyps and still growing great with great polyps and color. All other sps are all good.

Maybe not enuf flow? It is getting more than enuf light under MH's for sure based on placement.

No sorry not polyps to the bottom. That part does turn white for lack of light and flow. Thats completely normal I should have said all branches should have polyps.
