Black Brittle Starfish

Hello fellow reefers,

Considering getting a couple of black brittle starfish. Can they be a threat to my peppermint shrimp, coral Banded shrimp or mandarin goby?

Thanks,
Mo

I don't think so. It's nocturnal. They are great scavengers and like to eat so number of stars you add should correspond to size of tank and how much detritus/food it or they will have to feed off of.

I have a 60 gallon, crammed with a lot of rock and a sand bed. How many do you think I need? I want them to help me keep any of the dead areas clean.

Thanks
Mo

It's up to you. If I'm making choice for my tank, I'd do one. You probably have other detritus eaters as well in there, mini brittle stars, your shrimps, hermit crabs etc. you really won't see it much.
