Black ich?

Okay, I have two clowns and over the past few weeks I have noticed black spots appear on them. I also have a Bangaii Cardinal, now this fish never had anything appear on it. I'm very new to the hobby and I truly don't understand black ich. My question is could this be ich, and if so why has it not spread to my cardnial? I don't have a camera that can take a good enough pic. Sorry.

What kind of anemone and corals do you have in the tank? If clownfish are involved it is often seen when they try to associate with a new anemone or a coral that stings them such as frogspawn.

Ich is not black. Black ich does exist but it is most commonly associated with Tangs and Surgeonfishes, but one that can be contracted by other species as well. Black Ich is actually caused by an infestation of tiny Genus Paravortex member turbellarian flatworms.

Thanks, never truly understood it. I do have a frogs pawn and I also have a toadstool and some zoas. But one of the clowns just went female so that may it as well. Just couldn't understand why a few spots were on them. It's not all over total each one had like one or two spots.

The female transitioning is immaterial (to that problem any way) so it is almost certain the spots were from rubbing in the coral.

Thanks, I thought it may have been from the fighting. She has been being a little bossy lately. Lol
