Black Ick Experiences

Hello All,

Well, it appears as if I get to dive into fighting Black Ick. My two Maroon Gold Banded clowns, and a Purple firefish are showing multiple pinpoint sized black dots with swelling around each one.
Upon doing some reading, most look to have done a freshwater dip on the fish, then into a QT with Prazipro. Or, some have treated in their DY with Prazipro.
My questions......Is Prazipro reef safe? I have read that it will only kill the worms and any tube worms in the tank. Is that correct? Can it be administered to the DT with anemones, Cleaner Shrimp, Sun Polyps, Dendros, GSP, and a couple colonies of Zoas without issues? If it is OK to dose the DT, has anybody had success doing so?
I am looking for the best course to follow, as I would only like to deal with this once. If I have to QT the fish, will the worms die off in the DT if it is left fallow for X number of weeks? X = what? Will any of the above inhabitants host the worm? I assume I will have to take my refugium off line, and clean it out. I have added a pod purchase to the refugium (I am guessing that is where the infestation came from).
Thank you to all that have any comments and experience regarding this. I cannot tell you how bummed I am my kids are infected. TIA

IMO & IME; Prazi-Pro may be the only med that is truly reef-safe. Feather dusters, and other worms are killed, though. This is usually a real easy & safe cure. Dose twice, about 5 days apart.

According to this article they can survive for several months in the DT without a host. Although I think you have to take the term, "reef safe", with a grain of salt, no pun intended.

i tried using prazi-pro in my DT and so far no trouble with everything I have, everything is doing fine after the 2 doses that I did. I don't have worms and feather dusters though so no casualties in mine.

Thanks for the responses. Any others care to throw in their $.02? Any and all comments welcome.

TIA
