hi guys,
i have been wanting a black lion.
do they start off black when young?
do they stay black the rest of there lives?
lastly.......

anyone no of a good online company for one of these.
thanks ,

My "black" volitan was 5 inches and really black when i got him about a year ago. Now he is almost 11-12 inches and barely has any black. Mostly dark brown and reds, with blackish areas i guess. All the other black volitans ive seen before changed too.

Darn!? My lion, even though it changed colors, is very beautiful. The blacks look better when theyre older than the regular reds to me.

why?? is the red a darker red?please explain.

I dont know anything about African lions, sorry. Just from what I have seen the actual "red" volitans look more orange-red when theyre older, the blacks are a deeper red with brown. Anyone else notice this? Also have you checked Pterois radiata or antennata? They are very cool too and a little less common than the volitans, if youre looking for something more unique.

yes, i really have an interest only in the volitans due to there size and webbed spines. thanks for all your info!!!

i wish someone knew about the african volitans.!!!

IME there's really ultimately no difference in the adult colors of ones that start off red and those that start off black.

I don't know of any differences with the African lions.
