Black PVC Pipe

Depending on the application ABS drain pipe comes in 1.25" and would probably be an acceptable substitute.

yeah, abs is fine for non pressure usage, i used it for my standpipe

Do you know what type of store I might find it in? HD & Lowe's do not carry it. This will be for the feed tube on a closed loop. It's a new tank, and the overflow is black, I painted the back of the tank black, and this white draw tube sticks out really bad.I also need a 1.25" cap end. Thanks so much.

Wow...what a pita that was. I called manufacturers,distributors..I could get it..if I wanted to buy a pallet of the stuff. There is'nt much application for ABS...and mostly, this size. Luckily, being in central Florida...we have alot of mobile homes, and so we have a couple mobile home supply stores. I found one old one, that just so happens to have a small piece..enough for what I need. She told me they have had it in the back forever..and since they have to buy so much..and this size does'nt have much application..they won't be buying more. They have a piece waiting for me on their counter..:)

1 1/4" ABS

1 1/4" ABS

If you can't get it at Lowes or Home Depot (they should have it). Then try a Plumbing supply house like Standard, Lawson/Yeates. Look in the Yellow pages under wholesale plumbing supplier. I'm not sure what chain you have there. They may just give you a piece off of a broken full length. Remember they deal with professionals only. Be patient and try going in at times they aren't swamped or ready to close. Mid morning after the morning rush or mid afternoon. Another option is to ask a plumber. They probably throw away pieces the size you would need. You could also ask at a jobsite if you see one being roughed in. If you were closer, I'd just give you a piece. :-)

Good Luck!

Sorry , I didn't see how old that post was . Anyway , I've always used teflon tape on abs , but could I glue it with pvc glue ?

Hi Pete,
Yes you can, however they make another glue for gluing PVC to ABS - also available at most big box or plumbing supply stores.
