black spiny urchin - eggs?!

I noticed some groups of very small (but bigger than sand) white balls around my tank. A few hours later...I saw them coming out of my black spiny urchin - out of the "eye" - i know it's not really an eye. About 30 or so came out. What are these?? I only have one urchin...how do they reproduce? What should I do?

Mine does the same thing, I figure it's probalby just crap.

interesting...I know that's where the crap comes out of but this was not what I was expecting. I'm glad i'm not going to have a lot of spiny urchins crawling around... although if they were eggs they'd probably be eaten or die before hatching.
