Not sure if this is the right forum for this..

"TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. - There's no telling what might turn up in Lake Michigan.
Rich Fasi of Traverse City says he found a dead 2-foot shark in the water while fishing on West Grand Traverse Bay on Wednesday.
The saltwater fish was a juvenile blacktip shark, said Mark Tonello, a fisheries biologist from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
Tonello said someone might have caught the shark off the Atlantic Coast and kept it on ice while bringing it to northern Michigan.
Another possibility is that the dead shark was dumped by someone who had kept it as a pet, Tonello said."

My guess is someone dumped it after keeping it as a pet/in a tank.

If you don't filay a black tip right away the meat goes bad pretty quickly. I think it has something to do with the bladder releasing inside the blacktip or something along those lines. Hopefully it was just a fisherman that didn't know this and found out to late and not some idiot who didn't realize the great lakes are freshwater.

It was almost definitely put there by someone. Black tips aren't known to swim any significant distance in FW, so that rules out the chance that it swam there on its own. Nothing that large will make it into a ballast tank, much less back out again.

Not long ago we had a dead shark show up in a lake here too. Turns out someone threw that one in there too.

Had the same thing happen in the River here with an octopus. Got everybody stirred up until they realized a student dumped it.
