Blind Trigger fish help

My Pink-tail Trigger had fallen ill a little over a week ago. I thought he had died at one point but was able to move him out of my DT into QT.

It took him about 4 days in QT to start swimming again, but now he is back to his normal self swimming around at normal strength.... except that I believe he is blind now :(

He just swims until bumping into the glass and when I put in food he gets excited but can't find it. So I have resorted to prong-feeding him to keep his strength up.

His eyes appear fine in appearance, but it is quite obvious he can't see anything.

I have read that it may be caused by an infection. Is there something I should dip him with just in case that helps? Or is my best course of action to just wait this out a couple/few weeks before making any rash decisions?

Is it humane to 'put down' the fish if he won't eat? I mean I can't hand feed him forever.

Advice on fish blindness in general?

Thanks,

i have a pink tail trigger also, i thought mine was blind as well.
right after i got him he developed these white blotches on his body.
the lfs said that its called modeling.as for the blindness he said that there are lines that run above their eyes that help them navigate and sense foods. these could b damaged.no cure that is permanant unfortunatly.

i know how u feel mine is the same way.

do you have to hand-feed yours? how long have you been doing this if so?

i need to come to a solution by saturday at the latest. i either need to give him away to a good home (as my travel schedule will not allow me to be a good owner/carer) OR will need to put him down.

if an owner that has the time and patience to care for him isa humane option, then I am obviously 100% for that and will be very happy to give him away. but, is it humane?
