Ecotech,

one of my vortechs has been giving me a problem. whenever i start up one of my pumps, the pump will run for about 20 seconds and then the pump will stall. the driver flashes red during this stall. then after another 20 seconds the pump will try to srart up again and then after another 20 seconds it will stall.

i have taken apart and cleaned the wet side of the pump. the washer etc are all in tact and clean.

should i send my vortech in for repair? this issue has been ongoing for about two weeks now.

If your pump is flashing red then the likely culprit is that the disconnect error protection was enabled while the pump was on the aquarium. To correct this hold mode to enter feed mode, then hold mode and set to enter the calibration sequence. The pump will blink yellow and white. Now unplug the pump and plug it back in. This will cancel the calibration and the pump should begin operating normally.

The problem happens when people try to calibrate their pump for the disconnect error code while the pump is attached to the aquarium. The pump must be calibrated for this feature while the dry side is in your hand. If you calibrate the unit while the dry side is attached to the wet side the pump will not work and you will get a flashing red error.

If this does not solve your problem please email us at service@ecotechmarine.com so we can help you.
