Blown seam on tank

I blew a seam on my 180 clarity plus tank and those are built like tanks. Only thing I can think of is from the vortech pounding on it from the back to front. I have two on the back and one on each side. Right in front of the left one the top seam was pushed out all the way bowing.

Anyone else have this happen with wear on the tank from the flow?

out of curiosity what is the thickness of material? I am getting ready to have another tank build, and may oversize the acrylic to handle constant pulsing powerheads...

Its a warning they have with creating a wave in your tank. Over time the constant pounding from the wave can cause a seal to blow.

If it was four MP-40s set on the wave mode and turned up high, I could see it happening over time. If the seam blew out on the top I'd think wave motion might be the culprit.

Sorry for your loss :(

Never used wave mode, didn't like it I always used crest or tidal in the past. Crest starts around 30 in the morning up to 100 then back down to 30 at night

I wouldn't say it was the MP-40s, especially if it was two on the sides and two on the back. The two on the back (like the one you mentioned where the seam blew) if turned up all the way could have exerted steady pressure on the tank. This might have assisted in the failure but it sounds like it is a problem with the tank as the water pressure fro filling the tank alone would be far more than anything an MP-40 could do. How was it braced? Top blowouts usually have to do with bad or nonexistent bracing, if not something else with actual tank build.
