Blue background for reef with herbie overflow

I am starting a new reef build and would like to have a deep ocean blue background. The tank will be 48" x 18 x 28 tall with a 'herbie' overflow 36" long on center.
I can paint or have blue vinyl applied to the back but for the overflow box I am unsure how to blend the color. The contact I have to make the acrylic overflow combs only has black and does not want to purchase a full sheet of blue for a small overflow.

Am I stuck with doing the back in black or is there another way?

Thanks

Ive found that a blue background on reef tanks tend to wash out the colors or corals. I find that black is much better at making colors pop.

You could try painting the overflow with krylon fusion. Not positive it works on acrylic, but I think I've seen some posts saying it does. Your best option may be to go with a black background, though.

+1...or you could probably purchase a small piece of blue acrylic to cover the overflow...
I changed all my tanks to blue backgrounds, makes tank much brighter...if necessary get the blue/black reversible film background at Petco...try them both to see which you prefer.
