Blue Jaw Male or Female?

Can someone tell me whether or not this blue jaw is a male or a female? I've had a male and a female in my tank for 3 years or more, but in a recent move the female has gained brighter yellow fins and a little blue on her jaw, and there's been a bit of chasing/aggression every now and then.

I'm led to believe the stress may have made her change sex? I've read this on other people's posts, but want to make absolutely certain before I separate.

Thanks for any help. Pretty certain it's turned Male.

Blue Jaw Male or Female?

Now I'm confused.

I just witnessed both blue throats do some kind of weird spiral thing. They were nearly vertical in the tank, and they were side by side interlocked and they were twirling around and around really quick, (there was lots of teeth chomping noise too, but both appear unhurt)

The known male's blue patch was really bright after and the unknown male/female looked more like a female.

I found someone else's video on YouTube and the act looked just like this: https://youtu.be/0xjtYxXH60Q

The problem is, this guy says it was a mating behavior, but he has 2 males for sure. So... what is the consensus mating behavior or 2 males squaring up?

Perhaps it's a dominance thing, the two fellas trying to figure out who's going to run the roost. I just googled some images of female blue throat triggers and it looks like they lack the yellow edging on their dorsal and anal fins and the caudal fin is darker than the males. So were I gambling man, and with my track record it's a good thing I'm not, I'd say you have two males competing for dominance. Thankfully the exchange didn't damage either of them.

That's my consensus too. Time to remove one of them, which should be fun, not!

I moved him out of the tank and to another members tank in the area, he lucked out as he'll go into a 500 gallon tank. So, he can't complain.

How come you say that pairs always ends with 2 males?

Two German aquarist who wrote books of fish had made this expirience and Ted Krupman here also wrote this. I am also made this expirience. Colour of the female changed and the battle begins.

Greetings Torben

Thanks for the info, hadn't heard this before. That's sad, love having pairs of fish. I think it's calore who has a spawning pair, the videos he posted were amazing sights.
