Blue leg hermit walking around without shell!?

Hey all.

So I have this blue leg hermit. About 2 weeks ago he moved into a bigger shell. Last week I noticed that he molted. Since then he hasn't really moved from the spot he was in. Now today I see him crawling around the rocks without a shell!? Any ideas? I have other shells of different sizes laying around as well. He managed to crawl into a hole in one of the rocks so I cannot really see him at the moment. I also have a gold spotted hermit who is just fine. As well as some lps, sps, snails, a clown fish pair, and 2 feather dusters who are also doing Just fine.

It's a 30 gallon tank with the following parameters:

Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 0
Phosphate - 0
dKH - 11
PH - 8.1
Temp. - 78*
Salinity - 1.025
Calcium - 480

when a hermit crab is out of their shell, the crab is very stressed and also very vulnerable.

years ago when I thought mine was just being a smart *** streaking around I flushed him...lol. think it was a red scarlet.
