Blue Millie in Distress

My prized Blue Millie is the latest now to be under duress. In two or three days it's almost all gone. So white; So sad.

Today I made three frags... One very large one, and one small one that I put in my frag tank. And, one medium sized one that I attached in the display tanks.

Let us pray.

I don't know if it's from the encroaching mushrooms, or the bit of hair algae that's now in the display tank --- today I bought some Tech-M and am going to increase the magnesium level.

But, I'm threatening to pull out ALL of my live rock and move anything that has a mushroom on it to the refugium.

has it been dipped? do you have a predator eating it?

are your params correct and have they been stable?

Is the white starting at the base and progressing towards the tips or the other way around?

It's starting at the base. I haven't dipped it, and I don't see any predators... not that I could after seeing some of those amazing pictures at a prior LIRA meeting.

:( Sorry Lonnie. IF it makes you feel better I had a beautiful orange Monti cap. that started becoming necrotic, but the frags all survived and are doing well. If you are careful to leave a good margin of bad tissue and keep only pristine tissue, and it is disease, you may be ok.

I would suggest you dip it to test for predators. If you've already chopped it up and tossed most of it, dip whats left but also grab a different acro coral thats showing a bit of washing out.

Hey Lonnie, i will take any mushroom that you want to get rid of!!!!!!!!!
Andy, I have the one you gave me already in my refugium and it has your name on it. Probably next week I will dig in to my tank and re-aquascape and I'll have a lot of shrooms for you.

Wanna come over and help? And you can take what you want :)

Are you having temperature issues?
I would frag up and give out as many frags as you can.
If it helps any, if you lose it all, I still have your blue millie.;)

I would offer it up to any serious SPS keeper here.

*Edit*

Can I come over your house to take a look to see what might be wrong?

Bill,

Thanks for the call yesterday. You're more than welcome to come over at any time :)

The largest of the frags I made and put in the frag tank completely bleached out yesterday :(

Bleaching is normally caused by heat.
It is not unusual for Aquarists to have temperature issues at the change of the season. I'm dealing with a similar problem myself.

It's getting warmer and your chiller might not be running optimally. Or it might not be reacting fast enough.

Whatever the case might be, I believe it's heat that's the initial insult.
Then something else is finishing the job.

I need to come over your house, no question.

you can dip in fluke tabs or tropic marine coral cure or even lugols.

everybody seems to have these flatworms, and most waited to test until half our stuff was dead.

hmmmm... one of my blue staghorn's starting to go. A lot slower than the others.... but, VERY clearly from the bottom up.
