Blue Mushrooms

I purchased some Blue Mushrooms about 2 weeks ago that were doing fine but recently started to look like they were dying. They have curled up and are no longer open. Are they going through a cycle or is this the beginning of their death? My water is good have checked all PH, nitrate, nitrite and amonia. Let me know if this could be a lighting problem. They are located in the middle of my tank and it is a 35 Gallon hex. Thanks!

what kind of lighting do you have? dont know if its a problem if we dont know what you have. also where are the shrooms in the tank? top, mid, bottom?

They are in the middle of a 35 gallon hex. The tnak is a hex so it is tall. I have a 24in. corallife lamp with both the blue and white light. Thanks!

do you have them in a low flow area? if so i would say they are just getting used to the tank. or they may be getting ready to relocate. hard to say. i would just wait it out for a few more days.

There is some flow where the are located. I have a pump right behind a piece of coral they are in front of. Could this be the problem? How can I send upload pictures?

i was always told that when mushrooms die they turn to mush, so i guess if they are looking "mushy" then it is bad news?? just my 2 cents!!!

those dont look that bad from the pic. atleast i wouldnt say they are dieing. they look a little stressed however. i would try to move them to a spot with maybe a little less flow, maybe a little less light. then give it a day, if they dont look better, then try a new spot. maybe with more light. before mushrooms die, most will detach from the rock to try and find a better spot. so if you see them dropping off the rock then get worried.

to post a pic, the easiest way is to click reply, then under the vB code section on the next page, you will see a box that says IMG. click that box, enter the URL (if you have the pic in your gallery the URL is typed out at the bottom), click ok, and your done. that button puts the [img ] [/ img] tags in there for you.

i've got a rock that looks almost identicle to that. it goes back and forth between looking like that (especially when the lights have been off) and then them being huge and covering the rock and surrounding area... they just do that, don't worry about it...

It sounds to me like you have a 24" Normal Output light fixture? If this it the case, you may want to consider upgrading your lighting. Maybe a T-5 or PC Retro kit?
