Blue Sponge on my JF Stargazers

I purchased a small JF Stargazer colony of about 15 heads on piece of liverock mounted on a frag plug. On one side a mass of blue sponge is growing and it now surrounds 2 polyps which remain closed. Do I need to kill the sponge if so how do I do this without damaging the colony?

Scrape it off the best that you can. This might take a few attempts. What is left over should die or you can kalk paste it while being careful not to get any on the polyps.

+1. If you think the sponge is hurting it
Remove or relocate the sponge.
