Blue spotted jawfish hiding

Put my jawfish in my tank last night and haven't seen him since. Is it normal to have them hide for a few days before coming out? I have several burrows under my rocks from a neon pseudochromis that I have but don't know if my jawfish is in one. How long will he go without eating?

Its best for you to have a plastic syringe to feed it for the first couple days. They are stressed from the new home/fish. It will take atleast 2-3 weeks for the fish to settle down and youll see it out more often. very great fish with personality! my favorite. Make sure you have a top lid closed 24/7, they are masterminds of escaping!

I have eggcrate on top now, but have read they can escape through this. Am going to make a screen top for my new tank, but can't find black for the sides. Does anyone know if you can buy black or can the white sides be spray painted?
