How can I tell if my star fish is dying or not? I've had it for 2 weeks, he started adjusting to the tank and slowly made his way from the back to the front of the tank. Now it seems that he is inactive, and he will start to try and climb up the side of the tank and then it's like his limbs go limp and flop over.....

somebody help!!! please

It probably is dying because from what ive heard and read (never owned a blue star) they dont live very long in cpativity

Seems healthy but it has very little movement. The other two smaller starfish seem to move around quite a bit. Not sure what the characteristics of this particular star are, but tlooking at the others makes me wonder........... Thanks for the input though!!

I'm having a similar problem with my new blue star. I've had mine for 2 days now and I found him at the back of the tank, still alive but I think my cleaner shrimps were taking him apart. He had a slight white flesh wound when I bought him. I figured he would heal up in my tank with out any predators present.

I've removed him and placed him in my refugium, where he will hopefully regenerate.

I've had an orange star before, for quite a while. But that was a long time ago when I had nitrate peaks and I lost him.

My tank is extremely stable and healthy. I think I may have made a mistake in buying a damaged star. I'll have to see what happens.
