Blue Tang has ich.

How do you keep a Blue Tang from getting ich. This is my second fish and both have gotten ich once I put the in the tank. I have a uv sterilizer that runs all the time on my tank. However both Tangs still got ich. No other fish just them. Does anyone know any thing I can do?

the only way to prevent Ich is to treat and QT ALL your fish for it before you put them in the DT to begin with. you would then have an ich-free environment for your fish.

UV sterilizers will do almost nothing for Ich.

Your problem is that your DT has Ich in it. In order to fix this situation permanently, you would need to remove ALL fish for 12 weeks from your DT (referred to as a fallow period), which will allow Ich to complete its life cycle without ever finding a host (i.e. it will die off completely). In the meantime, you will need treat your fish via TTM, Copper, CP or Hypo (Hypo is the least recommended method). Then you will need to QT your fish separate from your DT for the remainder of the 12 weeks fallow period.

You will need to leave your tank fish free for 72 days. There is a really good article under Ich that will help. I think it's under Ich looky here.
