How come my blue tangs keep dying while in qt. None of my other fish did? Also, say if your tank all of a sudden breaks and the fish are going to be out of water what do people do?
do they have an extra tank ready or do you hurry up and get a salt h2o mixture going. Do you leave them in plain h20 while youre gettn it ready? or do you just except it your going to lose fish. Just hypothetically.

dont know whats up with your blue tangs
about the emergency
i have empty tanks a 10 gal and water ready...mostly for water changes but can use it for emergencies...i also have my pond now that i can toss the fish in long enough to keep them alive so i can mix water or set up something quick...oh i also have a 12 gallon running with nothing in it cept snails live sand and cheato...i guess you can consider it a QT

I keep an empty 100 gal rubbermaid ready. My 120 gal sprung a leak and had to be reseal and switch everything over in a day and in 2 days my 120 was reseal and up and running again!

to answer the emergency question I have two or three small tanks that can be pressed into service and I keep at least 10 gallons of water ready to go either for emergency tank issues or water changes.

Well, i have a 10gallon Refugium with LR and DSB and some macro algae; wost case take out the macro algae and transfer my fish.

But i do have a 30gallon rubbermaid where i mix my water in.

I think it's a good idea to have enough Brutes on hand that will store your tank contents. I have 3 40 gals for my 125 gal. One is used for fresh, one for mixed and one empty. If your scenario ever happened to me I would transfer my tank water and contents into these.

If you keep it tightly covered it will keep for long time. I make up 44 gallons at a time and change 12 gallons weekly. I mix it good and then turn off the heater, pump and air stone.

I turn them back on 24 hours before I need it so that it is the same temp as the tank and it's aerated well.

Regards,

Pat
